Hazrat Zainab bint Khuzaimah (RA) is the only other wife of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) who passed away during his lifetime.
Hazrat Zainab bint Khuzaimah (RA) was the fifth wife of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and is honored as one of the Mothers of the Believers. Known widely by the title Umm al-Masakin (“Mother of the Poor”) due to her extreme kindness, charity, and care for the needy, she was born around 595 CE and belonged to the Banu Hilal tribe.
Life and MarriageBorn in Makkah to Khuzaimah bin Abdullah and Hind bint Auf.Widowed when her previous husband, Abdullah bin Jahash (or Ubaydah ibn al-Harith in alternative accounts), was martyred in battle.Married the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 3 AH or 4 AH at the age of about 30 or 50.Distinct for being the first wife of the Prophet (PBUH) who did not belong to the Quraysh tribe.
Famous for selflessly giving away all her belongings and food to the poor.Lived with the Prophet (PBUH) for only a few months before passing away in Rabi‘ al-Awwal 4 AH.Along with Hazrat Khadija (RA), she was one of the only two wives to pass away during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).The Prophet (PBUH) led her funeral prayers, and she was buried in Jannat-ul-Baqi in Medina.
