Owais Qarni could never meet the Prophet (PBUH) in person, but he is arguably the only person in Islamic history who is said to have been accorded the status of sahabi (companion) by none other than Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Himself. Owais would keep a tab on the development of his sick mother when he heard about the sad news of the battle of Ohud, when a tooth of Prophet (PbUH) was Martyared, Owais out of love for him broke all his teeth. Prophet said to Omer and Ali that they will meet with Owais Qarni and request to him to seek prayers for his forgiveness and pray for the whole ummah.
Additionaly, it might be 2 reasons that he could not met with Prophet (PBUH). No 1. Owais Qarni himself suffered from Leprosy and the other reason may be, His mother was sick, and he believed that Allah like those who cares their parents. Due to that he was busy in the care of his mother and would not meet with Prophet PBUH. other reasons are also possible.
